The Problem
From ancient paint to
modern emulsion
Painting and decorating our homes isn’t a new concept.
Evidence of paint in shelters dates back 40,000 years, but
how these paints were made was signi昀椀cantly different from
how they’re made today.
Made with ash, chalk, coloured earth and bound with
water, animal remains and tree sap, this primitive process
remained relatively unchanged for around 30,000 years.
