EBNP_Impact_Report_2023-2024 (11.06.26) - Flipbook - Page 19
Scope 3
We made the decision to measure our Scope 3 emissions in our
昀椀rst carbon audit so we could fully understand the footprint of our
product and operations, which is why we have continued to include
our Scope 3 emissions.
We had understood that the footprint of our German manufacturing
partners was 100% offset and therefore effectively zero. However,
having requested a full Life Cycle Analysis we now have a much clearer
understanding of the emissions created during the manufacturing of the
paints we sell. Auro have published the data in Environmental Product
Declarations (EPD) for all Replebin products. We have retrospectively
applied the data from these EPDs to our 2023 data, safe in the knowledge
that they have not changed the way they have manufactured our base
paint in this period.
Downstream Freight - emissions
from transportation & distribution
of products after point of sale
Upstream Freight - emissions
from transportation of goods
to company
Employee Commuting
Business Travel
Waste - emissions from thirdparty disposal treatment of waste
generated by production
Capital Goods - emissions from
equipment, machinery, buildings,
facilities & vehicles
Purchased Goods - emissions from
the production of products
& services
End of Life of products emissions from the waste disposal
& treatment of products
Our largest impact is Purchased
Goods, which covers our paint,
packaging, business supplies,
and services that keep our
business operational.
Our second largest impact
comes from Downstream
transportation and distribution;
that’s how we get our paints
to our customers. We’re yet
to 昀椀nd a courier that has a full
electric 昀氀eet which works with
our business model, but we are
on the hunt for a distribution
partner which gets us closer to
this goal.
We don’t currently have EPDs
for our Decovery products
(20% of our sales), which include
our water-based eggshell and
water-based gloss, this means
that we’ve used a generic
emissions factor for these
products. While we don’t think
that the generic emissions factor
accurately captures the nature of
our eggshell and gloss, without
the necessary data in place,
we are obliged to use it.
