Paint companies aren’t in the
habit of sharing exactly what
they put into their products,
so there’s only so much we can
know. We can make pretty good,
educated guesses, we are paint
manufacturers after all, but
customers aren’t given all the
information they need to make an
informed decision about a product
they’re using in their homes.
There’s no escaping the reality that
the ingredients, natural mineral
and earth pigments we use in our
paints are expensive. Synthetic azo
dyes, often used to colour modern
paints, are considerably cheaper,
but they just don’t perform in the
same way as natural pigments.
For every litre of paint
manufactured, a larger amount
of waste is produced. Not only
that, but when excess or leftover
paint is disposed of, it becomes
hazardous waste.
In our view, this absence of
disclosure also allows them to
make unsubstantiated sustainability
claims.

proudly disclosed the ingredients
in our products since day one.

We only use high-quality
ingredients so we can make the
best possible product. While our
paints may cost more than paints
you’ll 昀椀nd in DIY stores, we price
them competitively and believe
our paints offer great value for
money, particularly as most
premium paints, like budget
paints, are acrylic.
Depending on how it’s discarded
or how decorating tools are
cleaned, the waste created
when we decorate can end up
in watercourses or land昀椀ll.
Our emulsion is made from 100%
bio-based ingredients, which
means it can be composted once
fully dried and returned safely to
the earth.
Our paint is mixed to order by
expert paint technicians at our
Herefordshire HQ, helping us to
further reduce waste.
